Ama Law

Hip Hop

AMA LAW DANCER / CHOREOGRAPHER Ama Law began her dance training with Kankouran West African Dance Company. Literally being born into the African culture, as both of her parents are founding members, she was a company member for most of her youth and teenage years. She is an alumnus of DyNaMiC dance team at the University of Maryland-College Park and was president for the 07-08 season, leading the team to place 3rd at Culture Shock DC’s East Coast Dance Competition! Graduating with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a certificate in Women's Studies, she took a break from academia to expand her dance vocabulary. She completed a rigorous internship at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan, NY fall 2008 as a hip-hop concentration, training under world-renowned choreographers such as Luam, Rhapsody James and Jared Grimes. Since returning to the DMV, it's been her goal to share her training with everyone. She is the former Artistic Director of B.Funk Dance Company’s Hip hop Crew teams. She and her husband Chris often teach, mentor and battle together as Project ChArma. She is a Culture Shock DC alumni and a forth year member of the all-girl crew, Kickrocks! As an artist with Cruz Productions, she hopes to help inspire and expose others while continuing to immerse herself in various hip-hop styles. House, Vogue, Waackin’ and African dance are a few areas in which she is currently working to expand her versatility as a dancer. She hopes to provide inspiration for the future generation of dancers to not only become fierce but, knowledgeable individuals. Amanda Kerby

Lyrical

Amanda Kerby was born and raised in Riverside, CA where she received extensive technique training in jazz, lyrical, and ballet. As a nationally ranked dancer, she competed internationally and won the title of Dancer of the World in Australia through Rainbow Competition in 2006. Furthering her education, Amanda has a BA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach and is Pilates Certified. Throughout college Amanda performed with semi-professional contemporary dance company Atlantis Dance Theatre. She has danced on cruise ships, performed with Foreigner, danced two seasons with the San Diego Charger Girls, and was an NFL All-Star cheerleader. She currently resides in San Diego, CA and choreographs and judges around the world including Mexico and Japan.

Andrea Woodward

Lyrical

Andrea Woodward is the owner of Hermitage Dance Academy in Nashville, TN. Recognizing her passion for choreography and teaching, she declined a professional dance career for herself and opened her own studio as a teenager. Her studio was in the FDC’s top 50 in 2008. In 2009 her studio was ranked number 8 among the FDC studios. 2010 her studio was ranked #1 in the Southeast region and #10 in the nation. Andrea has studied with many well known teachers and choreographers in all disciplines of dance from all over the U.S. She spent many years traveling the country and teaching workshops as well as running her studio back home. Today her primary focus is on pushing the boundaries of dance and choreography. Andrea’s students have won many awards and scholarships from different organizations around the country, and some have gone on to be members of college dance teams, professional sports team dancers, and appeared in several music videos. Andrea has won countless awards for her stylistic choreography and for her students’ technical ability, including both Teacher of the Year and Choreographer of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010 by KAR. Andrea is certified by Dance Masters of America and holds a B.S. degree from Cumberland University in Nashville, TN.

Anjuli Bova

Lyrical

Anjuli Bova hails from Long Island, New York and has over a decade of performance, teaching and choreography experience. Ms Bova received her B.A. in Dance Performance and Psychology from Hofstra University. During her years at Hofstra, she studied under the direction of Lance Westergard, Robin Becker, Michael Blake and Cathy McCann. She took part in many National Dance Festivals, including the American College Dance Festival where her choreography was featured, and the Dancers Responding to Aids Benefit in NYC. Professionally, Ms. Bova was a four year member and Captain of the New York Dragons “Firedancers” (AFL). Her choreography has been featured on “Good Morning America”, the “WB Morning Show” and “Fox Sports”. She has performed with Bon Jovi, 98*, the Venga Boys, and was core dancer on Club Jam TV featured on ABC. One of Anjuli’s greatest accomplishments was opening up her studio, The Dream Center Dance Academy in 2004 with co-owner Cheryl Freund. Over the last decade The Dream Center Dance Company has been awarded numerous Regional and National titles, and is currently ranked one of the Top Ten Studios in the Northeast by the FDC. Ms. Bova has been awarded numerous choreography awards, Teacher of the Year recognitions, and studio excellence awards. Her students can been seen modeling for top costume catalogues, are on scholarship for prestigious Conventions, and have gone on to pursue dance degrees at prominent Universities. Owning the studio has given Ms. Bova the opportunity to judge Nationally for Kids Artistic Revue and Rainbow Dance Competition. She has taught workshops at numerous studios, The Dance Masters Convention in New York, and is currently on faculty for the KAR Dance Convention. She is thrilled that she is able to spread her love and joy of dance to the younger generations and hopes to continue to inspire and motivate dancers for years to come.

Bernadette Natasha

Musical Theater

Bernadette Foth is an accomplished dancer with a diverse performance background, as well as, being a board certified instructor, award winning choreographer, master class instructor and sought after competition adjudicator. She is a certified member of Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of Michigan, Universal Dance Association and Dance Masters of America. She has performed with Enrique Iglesias, Sesame Street Live, West Side Story, The Wiz, and also was a principal dancer for Detroit Talent. Bernadette is the co-owner of Tina Marie School of Dance in which she operates two successful dance studios in Michigan. Her dancers have received extensive nation-wide accolades for their technique and performances, and many have gone on to dance on Broadway, Cruise Lines, Commercials, Music Videos and for the Radio City Rockettes. She currently travels throughout the country teaching on conventions & intensive programs, along with judging for many competitions such as Lifetimes Hit Show, “Dance Moms”. She also choreographs the opening routines, television appearances and various floats for the Hobble Gobble and Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with a performance with Kenichi Ebina the Season 8 Winner from “America’s Got Talent”. In addition, she is the director of her own in-studio workshop, DanzJam, and has worked side-by-side with numerous highly acclaimed master teachers and choreographers from stage, television and film. Bernadette has dedicated her entire life to cultivating talent and enabling her students to reach their fullest potential.

Chad McCall

Jazz

Chad McCall began his dancing career at the age of 16 in South Carolina and moved to Los Angeles in 2005 after graduating high school. Chad can be seen in the motion picture "The Marc Pease Experience" starring Ben Stiller & Jason Schwartzman, choreographed by Joey Pizzi (Chicago, Hairspray) & Zach Woodlee (GLEE) along with being a featured dancer in the film "Bolden!" starring Anthony Mackie and choreographed by Hinton Battle (The Wiz, Idlewild). He can also be seen as a soloist in Bob Sinclar's music video "What A Wonderful World". Chad also had the honor of being a part of Erica Michelle Sobol's LA based company, collidEdance, as both assistant choreographer and dancer, plus he has performed in countless choreographers carnivals for many of LA's most sought after choreographers. In 2010, Chad danced in a special performance for Disneyland's California Adventure park for the closing of "Glow Fest", choreographed by Mark Swanhart (Celine Dion). After moving back to South Carolina in 2010 Chad has been teaching and choreographing around the country non-stop. He has had the honor of choreographing solos for two, top 30 dancers on So You Think You Can Dance, being named Kid Artistic Revues 2010/2011 teacher and choreographer of the year, and his choreography and dancers placed fifth in the world at the 2011 FDC World Dance Championships. Chad's key mission statement in his class is that all movement is born of music, passion and personal experience. He is unspeakably excited and honored to share his movement with the KAR Convention!

Cori Heckmann

Tap

At the young age of 3, Cori Heckmann began her dance training and fell in love with the rhythms and sounds of tap. After years of training and assisting, it wasn't long before Cori knew she wanted to share her passion of tap with others. Cori is currently the tap director at both East County Performing Arts Center and In Motion Dance Center in the Bay Area. With recognition from today's most popular dance competitions, Cori has won numerous awards for her choreography, most entertaining acts, and highest scoring tap routines at both the regional and national level. Her students have also received overall awards, title awards, scholarships, and have taken home top honors from many dance competitions. In 2013 Cori Heckmann was honored with the Top Teacher award from Star Systems Dance Competition. Cori spends her free time continuing her dance education, choreographing, teaching master classes, and co-directing the Bay Area based youth tap company, Tapology. Cori loves teaching dance and is very excited to be a part of KAR's Dance Convention.

David Mann

Tap

David Mann's innovative tap choreography has appeared on the national television shows "Good Morning America", "America's Got Talent", "America's Most Talented Kids", "Live to Dance", and on the WE Network reality show "Little Miss Perfect". His work can be seen in industrial performances for Hugo Boss, Paramount, Ingersal Rand and on board Celebrity, Holland America, Norwegian and Cunard Cruise Lines. You can also catch his choreography in the national tours of "Road to Victory", "On Tap" and most notably "Dr. Doolittle" starring Tommy Tune. Mann and his choreography have shared the stage with stars like Adam Lambert, Jill Scott, Erika Badu, Regis Philban, Rita Moreno and Queen Latifah. David was also recently awarded "Teacher of the Year" by Dancer Magazine.

Dino Elias

Tap

Dino is a dance instructor at Forever Dance Lake Tahoe. He specializes in Tap, Contemporary, Jazz Funk, and Musical Theater. In 2012, Dino attended Jacob's Pillow in the pre-professional tap program, studying with Diane Walker, Lane Alexander, Derek Grand, Brenda Buffalino, and Lisa LaTouche. In December 2013, Dino performed in the first all tap show "Juba!", at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Dino choreographed and danced in "Red Hot Superstars" at the Grand Sierra Resort, Reno, NV. Dino performed in the Muny's production of Billy Elliot this past summer in St. Louis, MO. He has also performed with the contemporary dance company, Emerge, at The El Portal theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Dino has choreographed and taught master classes for studios throughout the West and East coast. Dino has been recognized on the national level for his choreography and teaching abilities.

Donna Shepherd

Jazz

Dancing since the age of three, Donna has trained in the areas of ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, modern, and tap. Her first professional endeavor was her performance in Pasadena City Ballet Theatre's version of The Nutcracker at the age 12. Donna attended Orange Coast College and was selected to be a member of the National Champion Dance Team. While attending OCC, she performed in an Usher music video, "Pop Yo Collar", and was featured with Paul DaSilva for Dance Spirit Magazine. Donna has performed in numerous benefit shows in Southern California. She is now a well-known choreographer in the Southern California region winning numerous awards for her choreography and dance training. Her students have gone on to be represented by LA's top agencies performing with artists such as Hillary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens, Shakira, Black Eyed Peas, Fatima and also winning prestigious National titles such as the Music Center Spotlight Grand Champion award. Two of her students have qualified to be one of the top 20 dancers on the hit Fox TV show “So You Think You Can Dance”, Pauline Mata and Jordan Casanova.

Erika Goe

Musical Theater

Erika Goe is a native of Riverside, California, and has been dancing since the age of four. Her 27 years of dance experience began at Just Plain Dancin’ of Riverside, where she trained for 12 years and then onto Riverside Ballet Arts, West Coast School of the Arts Irvine, EDGE Performing Arts Center of Hollywood, and Riverside Community College. Erika's dance training includes ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and some modern. Teaching dance is Erika’s true passion, and she has been teaching and choreographing for over fifteen years in and around the Inland Empire. Her work has been seen at California Dancer, Riverside Ballet Arts, University Dance Company of CSUSB, A.B. Miller High School, John W. North High School, Martin Luther King High School, Cope Middle School, Cal State Fullerton, Dance Horizons, Chaffey Community College, Riverside City College, Arlington High School, Elevate Dance & Fitness, and Kristi’s Forever Dancin’. Most recently, Erika has been hired as part-time faculty at Riverside City College to instruct beginning & advance level jazz classes within the dance department during the fall and spring semesters. Erika Goe graduated with her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology May 2005 and her MS in Educational Counseling October 2011.

Faliceano was brought into the world of entertainment at the early age of 8, with RIngling Bros. & Barnum Bailey Circus.Faliceano learned most of his hip-hop skills and his dance technique,as well as his Vibrant character which he displays from lifes courses of ups and downs. His hard hitting energetic style is what keeps his kids at the top of the list in all major competitions far and wide. Partnered along with wife Summer Turk they have created the name K.A.S.T.(Keith and Summer Turk) Performing Arts that has taken a multitude of 1st place, top 1st, highest in catagories, and countless title awards.
Faliceano has worked with artist such as Busta Ryhmes, Missy Elliott, Napolean and Tabitha dumo. Choreographed for new and Up coming artist, Bollywood top artist Sukshindar Shinda and more! Landing top nationwide commercials along side of good friend D-trix (quest Crew) he has also grabbed the attention of directors to score a part in the award winning bi costal hit "WICKED".
Meeting with and Audtioning for artist such as Marah Carey,Rihanna,Missy Ellott,Madonna, Faliceano continues to push his students to the L.A. level to land jobs and gain knowledge of their future industry.

Jen Toby

Jen Toby has been teaching all disciplines of dance and choreographing competition routines for more than 20 years. She has studied Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Currently she is the owner\director of planetdance in Canton, MI. Her students have won numerous scholarships, overall awards at conventions and competitions and have obtained numerous choreography awards at multiple dance competitions. She has had students perform in the Choreographers Carnival in Los Angeles, California, back up dancers to several different recording artists, assist many different dance conventions and seen on the MTV hit, "Americas Best Dance Crew." Her cutting edge choreography has won numerous awards at both regional and national levels. Jen judges for numerous dance competitions and teaches on workshops around the country. Jen loves teaching and the love of dance instills in students carries throughout all their years of dance.

Jerome Alexander

Jazz

Jerome Alexander has become one of today’s busiest dancers, youngest choreographers, and entrepreneurs. Jerome has danced for Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kanye West, and the rock band Ok Go! He has also appeared in commercials for McDonalds, the hit show “New Girl,” and in the promo for “So You Think You Can Dance.” In addition to dancing on Nickelodeon’s number 1 show “Victorious,” dancing on America’s Got Talent for Brian Friedman, and in the opening number of the Jerry Lewis Telethon for Emmy Award Winning Choreographer Tyce Diorio, Jerome has appeared in many shows internationally. He danced for Japanese sensation Domoto Koichi and has even starred in a show in Tokyo as the only foreign dancer to appear in the production! Jerome’s teaching and choreography bring him annually to Italy, Tokyo, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, and Puerto Rico. Jerome choreographed the commercial spec for Debbie Allen’s show “Twist,” the commercial for “Sammy and Me,” and was the Assistant Choreographer for a Little Caesar’s commercial, and by the age of 24, Jerome had choreographed his first national commercial. Additionally, he co-choreographed the upcoming movie “Stepping High.” Jerome is also one of the founding members of KJS Enterprises, which released an app with Sophia Lucia. He has won numerous choreography awards both in the United States and in Europe, and he is very excited to work with Kids Artist Revue!

Jessica Etzel

Jessica has been dancing since the age of 8 and has trained in all genres of dance, making her a versatile teacher and choreographer. She trained with many studios & dance companies before settling into the world of teaching. Jessica currently owns & directs her own studio and dance company in Maryland, where her students are national champion competitors and performers. She has been a featured performer at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, PA, and she has participated in several events to honor National Dance Week. She was awarded with the Frank Hatchett Broadway Dance Center Scholarship along with the Los Angeles Dance Force, "Dance with the Force Award." Jessica was also named the American Dance Awards "Young Choreographer of the Year,” and her award-winning choreography can be seen throughout the country on both the competition & convention stages. Jessica is a part of the Dance Olympus/DanceAmerica and International Dance Challenge Faculty, where she has had the opportunity to travel to numerous cities, teaching master classes, judging dance competitions, and performing. Jessica graduated from McDaniel College with a degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education. She was also awarded the Richard Clower Award for Excellence.

Jordan Leitson

Tap

Jordan Leitson comes from Cleveland, OH and brings over 20 years of dance experience. He is currently the Co-Owner and Co-Artistic Director of Jordan Center Dance. He was the first worldwide recipient of the prestigious Al Gilbert Memorial Tap Scholarship. Jordan has studied at Point Park University, Alvin Ailey, Steps on Broadway, Dance New Amsterdam, Broadway Dance center, UNLV – Ballet Seminars, and Florida Youth Ballet. He has performed in Disney World, Jazz on Tap Festivals in Atlanta, The David Lynch Show, Doug Benz’Cinderella (danseur and Geppetto) and performances with The Next Project at New York’s City Center Theater and in Maui, Hawaii. He was also featured in Stepp Stewarts Off Broadway hit Red Hot Broadway. Jordan specializes in contemporary, lyrical, tap, ballet and jazz technique and choreography. He has judged and taught for many outstanding dance competitions and conventions around the country. He enjoys teaching and inspiring dancers to be the BEST they can be.

Julie Tomaino

Musical Theater

Julie is a theatre professional specializing in choreography, stage direction, and dance education. She spent thirteen years living and working in New York City, most notably as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall from 2005 – 2011. Other performance credits include Louise on the US National Tour of CRAZY FOR YOU; Margie in the ABC Movie remake BYE BYE BIRDIE; and regional productions of THE PRODUCERS, CHICAGO, CABARET, EVITA, MY FAIR LADY, 42ND STREET, FORUM, GUYS AND DOLLS, AND FIORELLO.

Julie just returned from Skagway, Alaska where she served as the choreographer/assistant director for THE DAYS OF ’98 SHOW. She recently directed and choreographed the Canadian Premier of the musical THE GIRL IN THE FRAME for Intimate Theatre Productions, and also served as the associate director for MGR Playhouse/Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival’s groundbreaking production of CABARET (S.A.L.T. Award for Best Choreography). Select choreographic credits include: the pilot episode of the new TV Drama BLINK; an episode of CityTV’s PACKAGE DEAL (starring Harland Williams); several episodes of YTV’s MR. YOUNG; MY TURQOUISE YEARS (Arts Club); DANCING AT LUGHNASA (Exit 22); JOE SEGAL: AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE (assoc); the 2011 SCOTIABANK GREY CUP GALA (assoc); I LOVE YOU BECAUSE (assoc – Intimate Theatre), XANADU (assist – Arts Club); 42nd STREET. (assist – MGR Playhouse); and Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center production of CELEBRATE BROADWAY, starring John Lithgow and Linda Eder (assoc).

Julie was part of the dance faculty at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City for six years. Guest teaching highlights include the Mediterranean Festival of the Arts in Italy, two years with DanzaActiva in Panama, Broadway Dance Center (NYC), Dance Masters of America, The University of Maryland, and the National Dance Week Conventions across the US. Julie is currently on faculty at Capilano University and Harbour Dance Centre in Vancouver, Canada.

Kevin Hermann

Jazz

Kevin Hermann began his dance training as a child in Albuquerque, NM. He went on to receive his formal training from the University of Arizona, where he graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in dance. He has had the privilege of performing works by world-renowned choreographers Mia Michaels and Dee Caspary, and has danced with Malashock Dance and Company and the San Diego Opera. Kevin has also added video and television work to his credits including commercials for Allstate Insurance, videos for Los Angeles based singer Brooke Wilkes, Melissa Lowe's The New Ballet Workout (Kultur Productions), and has appeared dancing on CBS with Miss America 2000, Heather Renee French. Kevin is a full time teacher and choreographer at The Element Dance Center in La Mesa, CA; winner of the 2008 FDC Pinnacle Cup. His students can be seen in national commercials for Welch's Grape Juice, Divaz Dolls, Target, Kraft, Mattel and McDonald's. He has also been awarded Teacher of the Year and Choreography of the Year from Kids Artistic Revue National Finals. Mr. Hermann continues to travel from coast to coast setting his high energy, unique choreography for kids of all ages and is in high demand for master classes and summer intensives. In addition, Kevin travels with the highly acclaimed Fusion Dance Workshops, a personalized in house intensive, to studios around the country. He enjoys sharing his love and passion for dance with kids around the country!

Kevin Leon

Kevin is the artistic director of Innovation Dance Company in Las Vegas, NV. His students have won many regional and national awards and have gone on to perform in such shows as The Lion King, Radio City Rockettes, The Beatles "Love" show, Cruise Ships, and the Las Vegas Dance Company.

Along with teaching, Kevin is a sought out choreographer and adjudicator. He has worked for such companies as Thunderstruck, Showbiz, Starpower, Hall of Fame and now is joining the KAR family.

Kevin's performing credits include "The Masquerade Show in the Sky" at the Rio Hotel and Casino, principal dancer on several cruise ships, and has had the opportunity to perform with such starts as Usher, Enrique Iglesias, Mary Tyler Moore and MC Hammer.

Kira Dimartino

Jazz

Moving bodies while moving souls, this Arizona native danced her way into the hearts of all those who she has shared her passion with. Kira DiMartino immersed herself into the dance culture twenty-two years ago, studying with the Edge Performing Arts, Millennium Dance Complex, Ballet Arizona, and the prestigious Dance Connection under the direction of Lisa and Lori Waddel. During this time, she not only perfected her dance skills but her choreography skills as well soon winning the award, Student Choreographer of the Year. She also became the first national L.A. Dance Magic Performer of the year. After high school, Kira was crowned Miss Dance of Arizona, performed and choreographed for the Phoenix Suns Dancers, performed a Broadway Review for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, performed in SuperBowl XXX, and is currently leading the world of gymnastics into a new realm of dance. Her professional theater productions include A Midsummer Night's Dream, Charlotte's Web, James and the Giant Peach, Thumbellina and Cinderella. Her dance experiences have included Industrials for DaeWoo, Matrix, Biolege, and numerous choreographer carnivals.

Kristen Hibbs

Musical Theater

Kristen Hibbs was born and raised in sunny San Diego. She started dancing at the early age of 3. At the age of 14, she was assisting dance classes under the guidance of San Diego Dance Centre owner, Sharon Keller. While being mentored by Sharon, Kristen was also busy competing for SDDC in regional/national dance competitions. She was also a member of the Rancho Bernardo High School dance team. Kristen graduated from Rancho Bernardo High School in 2000. In the summer of that same year, Kristen joined the United Spirit Association staff and taught dance camps for high schools all along the California coast. She then went on to dance on the national championship dance team at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Ca. In 2002, Orange Coast College won a berth to the UCA national finals in Orlando, Florida. "Coast" was the first junior college to win the national title in division 1A. It was a great experience for Kristen and her dance career. While dancing with OCC, Kristen made her way to North Hollywood to train at the nation's famous dance studios; Millennium Dance Complex and The Edge Performing Arts Center. Later that year the OCC dance team was asked to be part of the hit comedy "The Hot Chick". Kristen moved home from Orange County in 2003 and became a head instructor for the San Diego Dance Centre. Kristen has had the pleasure of training with some of the nation's most respected instructors and choreographers, including Dee Caspary, Mandy Moore, Mia Michaels, Cory Finn, and Mark Goodman. Kristen has always aspired to one day own and operate her own dance studio. In August of 2007, Kristen acquired the San Diego Dance Centre. She is happy to be living her dream as a studio owner and is looking forward to her future endeavors.

Kristi Fair began dancing at the age of three in Riverside, California. At the age of 10 she began dancing for the prestigious West Coast School of the Arts in Cypress, California. During Kristi’s competition years she took top honors in tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. In 2001 Kristi opened her own dance studio where she teaches tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. In the past four years Kristi’s students have received high top honors at competitions at both the regional and national level. Kristi has choreographed for local theaters, high schools, and colleges earning top honors. Kristi spends a lot of her time traveling teaching master classes. Kristi received her training from teachers and choreographers such as Cory Finn, Tina D’Amato, Paula Kessinger, Amy Bates, Dawni Novak, and many teachers\choreographers in the LA area.

Lauren Schroeder

Taylor Mathews Schroeder has trained at A Touch of Class for 17 years and has taught dance since the age of 15. She graduated from the performing arts high school, New Orleans Center of Creative Arts, in 2004. She was accepted by audition and moved to New York to attend at the Ailey School. There she studied ballet, tap jazz, modern, yoga and Pilates. She choreographed musicals for Music in Chappaqua. From there she went on to study theatre, music and dance at California Pacific. Ms. Schroeder has international experience as a performer. She was chosen to perform on two European tours with the group The Young Americans and also performed in the opening act for bull fights at Plaza De Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, Spain. She has taught master classes throughout Europe and the United States and also started her own dance program in Berlin, Germany. In 2012 she appeared as a dancer in the Gucci short film Dionysis with James Franco. She was selected and danced as an NFL cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints and most recently performed with Beyonce’ in the 2013 Super Bowl. Ms. Schroeder continues to choreograph and instruct master classes throughout the United States and is a certified instructor through Dance Masters of America.

Mario Velez Jr. is a professional hip-hop choreographer and dancer\performer. Mario has toured and worked with artists such as Omarion, TLC, Rock Steady Crew, Fergie, My Chemical Romance, Brandy, Boyz II Men, Doug E. Fresh, Paula Abdul & many others! He has also toured with the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters! Mario is currently performing and choreographing for the National Recording Artist, Jasmine Hormez and for Automatic Response Dance Crew which was featured on the show’s first season of “ America’s Best Dance Crew!”. He has also done work with the NBA and WNBA Phoenix Suns Dance Team, The Seattle Supersonics, The Warrior Girls , The Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Mercury Hip-Hop Squad. He has trained dancers that have worked with artist such as: Lady GaGa, The Jabbawockeez, Jason Derulo and pricipal dancer David Hallberg from ABT, and many others. Mario has also started an exciting and very passionate Dance Studio called Diverse Elements. His diversity also includes choreography for shows, Splash and Bottoms UP in Las Vegas NV, and Jubilation in Reno, NV. This was all possible because of his long time partner and wife Melissa Velez. Marisa is actively working in the world of theatre in addition to being the company artistic director and a choreographer for Ms. Karen's Dance Studio in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She is currently a board member for the Arkansas Dance Network to help promote and advocate the art of dance throughout the state of Arkansas. Marisa grew up dancing and competing and went on to earn a B.F.A in dance performance from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Marisa has trained in many genres of dance including: tap, jazz, ballet, modern, ballroom, hip hop, lyrical/contemporary, clogging and musical theatre. Marisa has a special love for musical theater and has worked professionally as a choreographer, swing, dance captain and cast member in many professional productions and is also Equity membership candidate. As a choreographer and instructor for the Arkansas Repertory Theater's education program, Marisa has the opportunity to share her love of dance and theater with many aspiring young performers. She is currently collaborating with musicians and writers to create a brand new, all-original musical, Project élan which made its debut in July of 2013. She is also working on a reinvention of the Rogers & Hart classic, Pal Joey that will make its debut in September 2013. Some of her other most recent work includes productions of Cabaret, Irving Berlin's White Christmas and A Christmas Carol. Marisa has been recognized for her choreography both regionally and nationally and her students have also brought home many national and regional titles. Marisa hopes to continue to inspire students to pursue their dreams and perfect their craft.

Mark Orsborn

Mark Orsborn is a tapper, choreographer and master teacher. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Mark began his dance career at the age of five. After receiving numerous accolades and national recognition, Mark left competitive dance to begin focusing on his performing career. He took classes with tap legends such as Henry Letang and Maurice Hines and studied privately with Joseph Webb. He was invited to perform as a soloist with the Tap America Project (TAP) and was featured in such events as the Kennedy Center 25th Anniversary and Smithsonian 150th Anniversary. Mark then joined Knock on Wood to become a member of the tap group, Tappers With Attitude (TWA). During his time with TWA, Mark had the opportunity to perform on a regular basis on stages and theaters up and down the east coast. Shortly thereafter, Mark was cast in the Debbie Allen production of Brothers of the Knight and performed two successful runs of the show at the Kennedy Center. At the age of 16, Mark began assisting Laurie Johnson on the Tremaine Dance Convention circuit. He parlayed that experience and extensive training to begin teaching and choreographing. Mark quickly built a following and became an in-demand choreographer and master tap teacher. For years Mark has choreographed and taught for numerous dance studios and companies. His choreography was featured at the 2011 University of Maryland Choreographers Gala and has been nominated and recognized on a recurring basis throughout the country. Mark currently teaches at different studios, conventions and festivals such as Starpower Power Pak and the D.C. Tap Festival. He also has had the opportunity to co-teach with Laurie Johnson at Tremaine Dance Conventions. Recently, Mark started his own company, The JaM Project, to help spread the love of tap dancing through tap education.

Michelle Chandler-Smith

Michelle Chandler-Smith began her dance journey at age 12. With over 25 years of experience, her interests and expertise are in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet and modern. She spends her free time teaching and traveling the country continuing her dance education, choreographing, and judging. She has studied under the guidance of Joe Tremaine, Gus Giordano, Dave Massey, Doug Caldwell, Sean Greene, and several others. She has also had the privilege of performing as a member of the jazz-based Eastside Moving Company and the modern-jazz company Fusion, both in Seattle. Upon completion of her degree at Chapman University in Orange, California, she began her teaching career at Backstage Dance Studio in Bellevue, Washington. Several of Chandler-Smith’s students have won title awards regionally and nationally and have gone onto careers with Holland America and Carnival Cruise Lines, Stiletto Entertainment and are seen in many industrial pieces in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and New York City, as well as Company work in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Pennsylvania, Saipan and London. She continues to be recognized for her choreography regionally and nationally and is truly excited to be sharing her knowledge and insight with students willing to pursue the heart and soul of dance as an innovative and expanding art form. Michelle Richey

Michelle received her education in dance form Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton. She worked for United Spirit Association for 6 years as a songleading head coach. For over 10 years Michelle made her home at Disneyland performing in both parades and live shows such as the Queen Mary and Spruce Goose Show. She has performed for many superstars like Milton Berle, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Jackson and Frankie Avalon. Her most recent choreography credits include Grease, Anything Goes, Cabaret, Oliver, Peter Pan, Bye Bye Birdie, Godspell, The Wiz and Beauty and the Beast. Michelle's the former owner of MKR Dance Productions which she is the most proud of. Her choreography and her students have been the recipients of many regional and national titles. Many of her students have performed on TV and in music videos, receiving scholarships to major universities and becoming nationally ranked choreographers themselves. Michelle is currently a teacher and choreographer for Dance Precisions in Placentia CA.

Molly Najmolhoda

They say that Molly Najmolhoda was ‘born in tap shoes’. She has been dancing since the age of two, and has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, and musical theater. She has received top honors on both regional and national levels.

Throughout her career, she has studied under some of the leading instructors in the industry. In addition, she has trained with the Grand Rapids Ballet Company and has performed several roles during her five years as part of their annual production of The Nutcracker. Molly has been an instructor at Kathy’s Dance Company in Grandville, Michigan since the age of 14. Throughout her teaching career, her students have been recognized with numerous regional and national titles.

Molly has also received multiple choreography awards and has been named ‘Teacher of the Year’ for the past three years. In addition to being a dance instructor, she has also coached an award winning dance team at her local high school.

Dance is who Molly is. She looks forward to working with KAR and appreciates the opportunity to work closely with young dancers who share her passion for dance.

Throughout the years to follow, Nick trained in all styles of dance, and competed in countless dance competitions. He has helped his dance school gain nationwide recognition as one of the top dance schools in the country. During those years, Nick and his sister Emily continued to train and compete in Latin Ballroom, winning many championships including The Ohio Star Ball, Millennium, and have had the pleasure of training with some of the legendary names in ballroom, including Shirley Ballas, Rufus Dustin, Tony Devolani, Karina Smirnoff, international champions and coaches Loreta and Ivan, and others. This passion and dedication helped them rise to among the top Latin Ballroom couples in their respective divisions. As the son of the first DJ to spin a hip hop record on radio, Nick grew up around entertainment and the hip-hop culture. His inspiration for music, dance and art started at an early age. This all self-taught breakdancer, actor and sculptor is taking the hip hop world by storm. In the first season of So You Think You Can Dance, Nick earned his stripes as the only breakdancer in Chicago to make it through to the top 25. Nick has choreographed for and worked with artists such as Cali Swag District, Rock Steady Crew, Black Eyed Peas, Nelly, Ebony Eyez, Cirque du Soleil, Chemical Brothers, Lululemon Athletica, the Step Up movie premiere, and more. Nick has recently appeared in the viral music video: Teach Me How to Dougie. He has also taught numerous master classes and shared the stage with Pharrell Williams. He has also worked alongside with Michael Jackson's choreographer—Fatima Robinson in BET'S Played By Fame. This jack-of-all-trades also shares a passion for art. Nick has sculpted for various artists including Jay-Z, Ice-T, Nelly, Kanye, Aaliyah, and more. He was recently commissioned by Disney to create sculptures for the cast of Step Up 3D, as well as appearing in the film. Nicole Doerr has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She studied 4 summers with the Joffrey Ballet. Nicole has been on full scholarship to Broadway Dance Center, The Edge, and many more.  Nicole has earned the title of Miss Dance at KAR and Senior Outstanding Dancer at NYCDA.  She was accepted into the National Ballet of Canada.  Nicole has danced for the Detroit Pistons and performed on ESPN's ProDance where she was chosen to perform onstage as a backup dancer to Brian Friedman.  Nicole also danced at an elite Super Bowl XL party.  She was accepted into the University Of Michigan’s School Of Dance, and was a member of Impact Dance Theatre at U of M.  Nicole ran a summer camp for 10 years that drew dancers from all over the US.  She has performed in commercials and modeled for costume catalogs.  Nicole is the co-owner of Flex Point Performing Arts Center in Farmington Hills, MI.  Nicole's pieces have won numerous top choreography awards, highest overall scores, and Flex Point PAC received the award for Top Elite Studio at KAR Nationals in 2012 as well as won the World Series at Nationals in 2014.  Nicole's students have gone onto be members of many college dance teams, University of The Arts in Philadelphia, professional dance teams, Juilliard, and other various dance programs and companies throughout the US.  She has former students that have performed lead roles in Cirque de Soleil's Iris, and National Tours of Hairspray and A Chorus Line.  Nicole judges and teachers for several National Dance Competitions and Conventions.  She is trained in ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, tap, hip hop, modern, pointe, pom and more!

Orialis is from Puerto Rico and has been dancing since the age of seven. She has trained in all genres of dance from ballet to hip hop, and through her extensive training, earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from The Florida State University. After receiving her degree, Miss Serrano moved to Denver, Colorado to join the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. From Colorado, she relocated to California to train and perform as a professional commercial dancer. Patrick, 26, began his dancing career taking class at his family's studio C&C Dance Company in Bowie Maryland. His professional career started right out of high school with off broadway shows and national tours such as "Footloose", "A Few Good Men Dancing", "Nights On Broadway 2 and 3" and with "The All American Dance Team" with well known choreographers such as Ac Ciulla, Ray Leeper, Laurieann Gibson, Jerry Mitchell, Jeff Amsden and Mark Marino. He then signed with Clear Talent Agency to pursue more commercial work. He has backup danced in music videos and shows for artists such as Toni Braxton, Amerie, Lupe Fiasco, Cassie, Corbin Bleu to name a few. He was featured in the major motion picture "Step Up 2 The Streets" choreographed by Jamal Sims. His television debut was a 4 episode stint for ABC's "One Life To Live" and performed on "The View". Pat has also performed with Rasta Thomas' "Bad Boys Of Dance". Pat has performed across the world but his passion is to teach. He loves to choreograph and inspire kids to express themselves through dance. Pat says watching the growth of dancers is "the best rush you can get" as a teacher.

Patrick Pulkrabek grew up in Hutchinson Minnesota where he studied Ballet and Jazz. He graduated in 2003 from Perpich Center for Arts Education, the Arts High School. He received his BFA in dance from Cornish College of the Arts in 2007. Patrick joined Spectrum Dance Theater with artistic director Donald Byrd as a company member in early 2008 to 2012. He has performed many lead roles by world famous choreographers including Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Gus Solomon Jr. and Donald Byrd, and has performed many full length ballets including the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and many more. Patrick has worked with the 5th Avenue theater in Seattle and was featured as "Dream Curly" in Califormia Music Theater's revival of Oklahoma! Patrick started teaching at Allegro Performing Arts Academy in Kent, WA in 2006, and since has won multiple awards regionally as well as nationally. Some of Patrick's students have gone on to pursue their own dreams and have worked professionally as a featured character in ABC Family's "Bunheads" as well as a Top 3 finalist on "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition". His students have also attended Tisch School of the arts, University of Arizona, University of Idaho, and Chapman University. His love and passion for dance is infectious and he loves sharing his passion and knowledge with everyone he meets.

Ricardo Pena

Ricardo Pena is an Owner and Artistic Director of Performance Edge 2 School of Dance in Florida. Some of his performing credits include…Radio City Rockettes, Tokyo Disney, Disney World's Tarzan Rocks and Beauty and the Beast, Siegfried and Roy at the MGM Grand, and The Wayne Brady Show. Ricardo also performed and choreographed for Celebrity Cruise Line, numerous industrials, and for studios across the states. Some of his students have gone on to Point Park, Marymount Manhattan, Fordham Ailey, NYU Tisch, University of Arizona, and many other dance and theatre programs across the country. Performance wise his students have worked with Americas Got Talent, the Rockettes, SMASH, Beyonce, and Odyssey Dance Company. Sara Brendel is a native of St.louis, MO and has years of dance training and performance experience. She started her professional career dancing for Norwegian and Princess Cruise Lines. She has worked industrial shows and special events for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Nissan Motors, Siemens Technologies, and several other companies with Event Show Productions. She performed in Branson, Missouri with the production shows "Dino's - Somewhere in Christmas" and "The Shoji Tabuchi Show”. Sara also danced in the Broadway- style production of "Katonga" at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay. Sara has performed beside talented dancers with the Les Grand Ballets Canadians and appeared in the musicals “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, "The Music Man", and "42nd Street". Sara received her education from Columbia College Chicago and Webster University as a dance major with a concentration in Choreography. Sara has choreographed numerous nationally award-winning pieces and has received several choreography awards for her work. Sara's choreography can be seen for nationally recognized dance teams and has been featured on ESPN. Her students have gone on to scholarship programs at the Edge Performing Arts Center, Oklahoma City University, Chapman University, and several other university dance programs. Many of her students have successful dance careers performing with world tours, professional dance companies, production shows, music videos and cruise lines. Sara teaches master classes and workshops for numerous studios across the U.S. , she enjoys judging for Kids Artistic Revue and Rainbow National Dance Competition, and is the Creative Director at the Movement Arts Center in St.Louis. Stephanie Fica is the director of the award-winning tap program at Karen’s School of Dance in Highland, Michigan. Within all of her classes, Stephanie strives to instill hard work and creativity through her effective and energetic teaching methods. Stephanie enjoys choreographing tap routines in a range of styles from classical to street to musical theater influenced tap. While tap is her specialty, Stephanie also enjoys teaching many other styles of dance including jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, and musical theater. Stephanie was a part of the Dance’Sations dance company in Michigan competing nationally and regionally for many years, often being recognized in the top overalls as a tap soloist. She also spent these years of training taking master classes at conventions such as NYCDA and LA Dance Magic, as well as the highly acclaimed Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Stephanie went on to graduate from Michigan State University, and has since devoted her time to teaching and choreographing unique competitive routines. Her students and choreography are consistently recognized for technicality, precision, and performance quality at regional and national competitions, often claiming top overalls, special awards, and scholarships. Stephanie believes that anyone with passion, determination, and a love for dance should never hold back!

Suzie Taylor

Suzie has been dancing since age 4, and has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary. At the age of 8, she performed in the Pittsburgh Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. Suzie won many top awards on the regional and national level, and in 2004, she was seen performing in the International Children's Olympics opening ceremony with recording artist Aaron Carter. At Youngstown State University, Suzie was a member and secretary of the YSU Dance Ensemble, and she was also seen on stage with Easy Street Productions in performances such as "Beauty and the Beast", "Annie", and "The Wizard of Oz". She is now a dance instructor at the Steppin Out Dance Center in Youngstown, Ohio, where her students have won numerous awards on the regional and national level, as well as multiple FDC and choreography awards. She has been named "Teacher of the Year" for the past four years at Kids Artistic Revue's National Finals. Her students have won top scholarships at many conventions across the country and have been invited to perform in the Choreographers Carnival in Los Angeles. Her students have also won top honors such as the 2012 Miss Dance of America, and National Grand Champions in hip hop and lyrical. Suzie is also a judge for Kids Artistic Revue and Rainbow competitions. She loves every second of teaching dance, and is so excited to join the KAR Convention faculty this year!

Tawnya Kuzia

Tawnya has been dancing for 25 years and has won numerous awards and scholarships. She has been teaching and choreographing all styles of dance for 13 years and has trained many scholarship winners, professional dancers, and national champions. She has also trained many dancers who have been accepted into prestigious dance programs and College dance programs such as ABT, Alvin Ailey, UC Irvine, Chapman University, Loyola Marymount, Marymount Manhattan, UCLA, among others. Tawnya received her B.A. in Dance from SJSU, where she was a member of their modern dance troupe, University Dance Theatre, under the direction of Julliard Alumni Gary Masters. After College she continued her training in a work study program at Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood California, one of the premiere dance studios in the nation where she trained under and assisted some of the worlds top choreographers including owner and master teacher, Bill Prudich. Throughout her training Tawnya has been fortunate to train with some of the best choreographers in the country. She discovered her love for fusing Ballet technique with Hip Hop and Contemporary styles while dancing with Funkanometry SF in their all female Hip Hop Company De La Femme. Currently, Tawnya is busy teaching, producing shows, and choreographing for companies, teams, award shows, and events such as "The NAACP Awards where she choreographed for Vanessa Williams and the "original dream girl" Sheryl Lee Ralph and dancers. In 2006 Tawnya and her husband (Motion Picture and Event Production Designer) Jason Kuzia were so excited to open the bay area’s newest dance center, Nor Cal Dance Arts, where Tawnya is also the Artistic director of it’s pre-professional dance companies and teams. Since it's opening the studio has seen great success and has grown into a new location and state of the art 10,500 sq ft. facility. The studio has been awarded "Best of San Jose" for 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. In June of 2009, Tawnya was selected as a National Finalist for the Capezio Award for Choreographic Excellence in NYC. The opportunities lead to the start of her professional company, Rugged Dance Company. While directing and choreographing for Rugged, Tawnya has had her work showcased at the notorious Roxy Theater in Hollywood Ca, Music Box Theater Hollywood Ca, Fort Mason Theater SF, Montgomery Theater San Jose, and many other venues. Through her work with the company she has been awarded the People's Choice award and Critics Choice at SJDanceCo's ChoreoProject Awards Concerts. Honored to grace the cover of the 25th anniversary issue, The Metro magazine named Tawnya as one of Silicon Valley's top 25 to watch as a next generation of leaders in their fields. The article signified her as a rising leader in Bay Area arts, alongside other great entrepreneurs such as Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg. Regarded as one of the Bay Area's best instructors and contemporary choreographers Tawnya is so excited to be working with new and talented dancers and hopes to encourage performers and audience members to experience the art of dance in new and creative ways.

Tiffany Schlater

Tiffany has over thirty-five years of dance experience in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, musical theater and several styles of tap dancing including Broadway to Hoofing. She served as Dance Captain at the Ohio State University at age 16 and received a full dance scholarship to the prestigious Gus Giordano Dance Center in Chicago, Illinois. She has performed at the Capital Building in Washington D.C., the Chicago Theater, in the promotional tour for the movie “TAP”, various industrials, charity events and on television. Tiffany has performed with Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Savion Glover, Lane Alexander, the late Gregory Hines and was an original member of the “ETC” Tap Company. She has also had the honor of studying under such greats as Gus Giordano, Henry LeTang, Sandman Simms, Jimmy Slyde, Derick Grant and the Emmy winning Jason Samuels Smith. Tiffany has earned the titles Teacher Of The Year & Top Choreographer on Regional and National levels, and most recently, her choreography was featured in the New York City, Tap Extravaganza 2011. Her students can be found on television, Broadway, movies and professional dance companies. Tiffany has been recognized by the Stanford Who’s Who of America, Ohio House of Representatives for her dedication to the Arts and is a member of the International Tap Association. She now serves as a National Adjudicator and the Elite Company Director at Judy Dollenmayer Studio of Dance in Columbus, Ohio. Tiffany is committed to sharing her love of dance through mentoring, educating and teaching proper technique across the country.

The KAR Dance Convention Showcase is an informal showing for the parents to see what the dancers have learned throughout the day. Parents are encouraged to take photos and videos of their dancer to capture the fun and excitement of the weekend. The showcase lasts approximately one hour and includes:

 Master Teacher Introduction

 Class Performances

 Scholarships

 Photo session

 FREE of charge

 Master Teacher Autographs

The showcase is free of charge and we encourage all family members to come and watch what the dancers learned throughout the day.

Any and all dancers who are not attending via a previously received scholarship.

The dancers are selected by the master teachers.

Yes, in order for a parent to observe class they need to purchase an Observer Band for $20. Click here to purchase yours today!

Teachers are allowed to take class one of two ways. They can pay to take class, or the following must be followed to take for free:

 10 Dancers = 1 Free Teacher

 30 Dancers = 2 Free Teachers

 50 Dancers = 3 Free Teachers

 No more than 3 teachers may take class free of charge.
